Tuesday 21 Jan
Lie-in. 8am. This is luxury.
Go with Mum to her pedicure appointment. Her nail lady is 32 weeks pregnant. I can’t remember the last time I saw a pregnant woman. Legends, all of them.
10am. Smear test. Don’t feel old enough for a smear, but life comes at you fast.
Decide that means I probably ought to grow up.
Stop at M&S for the new issue of Vogue. The nice manager tells me he knows I secretly love reading New Scientist. It made me laugh, but written down I’m not sure it translates.
Home. Hot chocolate.
Write.
Sleep through Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Shame. I like that one.
Edit last week’s Sunny Side Up. Decide it’s the most boring thing I’ve ever read, so re-write it all.
Sleep.
Wednesday 22 Jan
Early-ish start.
Drive to London.
Pret. Tuna & Cucumber baguette, creature of habit.
Mooch around Covent Garden.
Am stopped by two girls asking if I’ll be in a TikTok. ‘SORRY NO’ I say, and desperately run away.
Hide in GANNI. They haven’t followed me. Safe here.
Try not to make any spontaneous, ill-advised purchases.
Celebrity spotting of the day: Ben Miles. We think.
Make a spontaneous, ill-advised purchase.
God, I am soooooo easy to sell to.
I am a saleswoman’s DREAM.
Check into hotel.
Watch episode of Severance series 1. Late to the party.
Get ready.
Dinner. Steak frites.
National Theatre: The Importance of Being Earnest.
Decide that Ncuti Gatwa is in fact the most beautiful human I have ever laid eyes on. He is so athletic, he practically glows, his smile is so perfect you cannot help but smile with him, I have no idea how he kept his energy up. 10/10. Also was buzzing to see Hugh Skinner because I’ve loved him for a very long time too and think he needs to be in more. A really great comedy actor but still so underrated? I need more of him!!
Walk home. Admire a lit-up London.
Hate staying in hotel rooms by myself.
Turn off air-con because it’s noisy.
It turns back on again.
I turn it off again.
It turns back on again.
I turn it off again.
It turns back on again.
I decide the room is haunted.

Thursday 23 Jan
8am. Wake up.
Get ready.
Listen to new episode of The Rest is Entertainment.
It rains.
Breakfast. Chocolate croissant.
Brief shopping trip. Buy a copy of I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki by Baek Sehee.
Why does everyone in London move SO FAST?! WHY ARE YOU IN A HURRY?! I’m not someone who moves at a terribly slow, leisurely pace but I certainly don’t play “the floor is lava” on every street I walk down. I’m not a city gurl.
Tube. Northern line.
Drive home.
Listen to audiobook. Beach Read by Emily Henry. Not bad!
Arrive home.
Wash hair.
Dry hair.
TV. Pretty Little Liars.
Conflicted. Am I really enjoying this show or am I trying to feel some nostalgia? Am I even feeling that? All I am is horrified at the teacher-student relationship. It’s scarier than the creepy text messages.
Dinner. Spaghetti bolognese. Let’s hear it for bolognese!
Edit Friday post. Hope people like it.
The Traitors.
OMG.

Feel stressed at the work I know is waiting for me. There aren’t enough hours in the day and I haven’t learned to juggle everything yet.
Text Beth: ‘So busy but learning to juggle.’
Procrastinate by trying to do my curly hair routine but it just goes frizzy this time.
Dinner: potatoes. Dessert: bread & butter pudding.
Write.
Re-watch the ending of The Traitors series two, because to this day I can’t think of more gut-wrenching television than Harry looking Molly in the eye and admitting he’s lied to her this whole time.
Write some more.
Listen to Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? by Taylor Swift and imagine I’m on that slidey stagey thing she was on at the Eras Tour.
Read ‘In Search of Today’s Third Places’ by
.Write again. Wonder what happens to all the words when they’re deleted.
Consider buying a full subscription to The Rest is Entertainment. Like, is it a bad thing to do with your money when you’re trying to save for a home?
Decide if I cancel another subscription, then the new subscription is justified.
Podcast: Parenting Hell with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe.
Reply from Beth: ‘THAT’S SO COOL! I’ve always wanted to learn to juggle!’ God bless her.
Sleep at 11.30. Ish.
(That’s a lie. It’s definitely later but I have work in the morning so hopefully if I convince myself I’ve had more hours of sleep I won’t be as tired in the morning.)
This was such a fun read!! 🫶🏼✨
"Wonder what happens to all the words when they’re deleted." – if this ain't me for at least an hour a day!!
Loved this peek into your life again, it reminds me that it's fine to have a normal mundane-ish schedule. Also, thanks for the very kind mentions Ella, you are too sweet!
