When I go to sleep on a Monday night, I get really excited because my favourite podcasts release new episodes on Tuesday mornings.
On Tuesday mornings I feel happy as I drive to work listening to my favourite podcasts.
On Wednesdays I know that I have enough time at lunch to get myself a hot chocolate.
Thursday nights bring with them Pilates, which means I’ll feel good on Friday mornings.
On Saturdays I get to spend time with my family, who I am lucky to have.
On Sunday mornings I can look forward to breakfasts with Liza.
I combat the Sunday night scaries with the knowledge that I’ll see my friends at 8.30am the next day.
When I meet my friend Lucy I get surprised again by how tall she is and how short I am. We look like Big Cook Little Cook.
When I go to football matches I’m greeted by familiar faces with smiles that bare teeth from excitement and thrill.
When I go to work and Kay’s in I look forward to our mini catch-ups about our weekends.
When I stay at my sister’s flat she’ll treat me to a roast dinner at the new best place.
There’ll be a new song I’ll play on repeat.
There’ll be a new book to make me weep.
Another cake will be the best I’ve tasted.
Another pair of shoes will be “the last I buy”.
In January I’ll watch The Traitors on weeknights. In February I’ll retreat with a novel. March will gift me Pancake Day, and in April I’ll get to see all the bright tulips. There are lots of birthdays in May, and in June I’ll feel the sun on my face. July will let me sit quietly in the garden. August is for ice cream and BBQs on hot days. September is for bouquets of sharpened pencils. In October I’ll laugh at comedy gigs with my sister, November will glisten when I turn on my twinkly lights again. I’ll see my family in December, like I always do.
And there’ll be surprises in between.
I’ve said before that most days are average. That’s true. But when you think about all the good things, all the small things that make you smile for a minute, the average doesn’t seem that bad anymore. The best days are hidden amongst the average ones, and in those, the best small moments are waiting.
Tell me your best small thing from today. 💌

God bless the Velvetiser. That hot chocolate machine does more for me than Sertraline.
Tuesday nights are quickly becoming my favourite because they’re my cooking nights!! This week I made linguine with harissa and chicken. Always a crowd pleaser.
I had a long meeting at work but it was all made better when Maureen brought in her special chocolate traybake. So good.
I was SO happy with myself because I got my cousin the best present for his birthday. He doesn’t read this so I can tell you it involves his favourite football player 🤭
My sister came home for the weekend!! This was so nice because I’ve had a slightly lonelier feeling week than usual. I’ll never say no to her company.
Came down with a cold. EW. Watched a lot of rom-coms to make up for it. 50 First Dates, The Lake House, Barbie, This Time Next Year, my Letterboxd popped off that one day.

The Grammy’s 2025 Fashion Roast (Part 1) by HauteLeMode on YouTube. Obsessed with him and I think if he told me my outfit looked bad I’d simply never dress again.
This Ariana Grande look. It says birdcage, but I love it.
Same time next week? Xx
Reading this was like a balloon inflating inside me, making everything a bit lighter. Best small thing from today is obvs Sunny Side Up hitting my inbox <3
Ella you blow my mind every time! On another note, I fear I need to watch the traitors
