"life has a way of giving us what we need" is sooo true! Thanks for sharing these artists -- they're all so talented!! Love artists supporting artists across different mediums :)
I'm currently re-reading one of my favourite non-fiction books, What Are You Looking At?: 150 Years of Modern Art in the Blink of an Eye by Will Gompertz. It helped me understand and better appreciate art in an accessible, non-pretentious way!
Ooh I'll deffo check that book out! I think that's it, finding art that resonates with you and not forcing yourself to be impressed by something that you just don't care for
Absolutely LOVE Olivier's work and that piece by Ali is just GORGEOUS.
Will Blood (https://www.instagram.com/iamwillblood/?hl=en) has been my favourite artist for some years. We've got a few pieces of his and if he releases something that I think a family/friend will like, I'll get it and keep it as a gift. His work is just so bloody COOL.
I also love Natalia Shaloshvili (https://www.instagram.com/nataly_owl/?hl=en) who I met at an Eel Pie Island opening weekend (if you haven't heard of it you will LOVE!). I like things a bit quirky and lighthearted/silly and her stuff is just that. Other than the big £2,000+ pieces - which I couldn't get back in the car nor, actually, afford - she'd only got small cards left so I picked up a collection to do a little gallery wall.
In general, I love going to all sorts of markets and finding "smaller" indie artists selling their prints. We have a stack of frames by the TV full of pieces and a bag full of prints that need framing (and a wall to go on lol).
God sorry I can't stop talking (or typing??) now... my dad and stepmum have some super cool art from a gallery in Brighton, which they'd go to a lot when my stepmum was still living down there and they were long distance. They've got some incred pieces from Pure Evil who I've naturally become a fan of through staring at the walls over the years!
I have lots of other faves but I fear I've rambled enough !
Ahh thank you Soph!! LOVE these recommendations, just checked out Will Blood - can't believe I've not seen him before!
I love that feeling of stumbling across somebody new and falling in love with their art, it's actually one of the things that draws me to Brighton because I know it's supposed to be a super arty place! I'm going later this year so will deffo take a note to go in search of the galleries 🎨
There are SO MANY amazing artists on Instagram. I am constantly humbled by them -- and so glad for the ones I've connected with through subscription boxes, DTIYS, and challenges/events.

Ooo this was an interesting piece! I studied art all through secondary and a-level so really enjoyed this piece and seeing what your faves are.
I’m really liking Emily Powell - her bright and fun pieces bring about a children’s painting vibe but in a good way? Super fun and expressive 💐🖌️
Thank you Ciara!! Omg I just started following her recently!!! I LOVE her colours, so happy and uplifting
This piece itself is art.

evaboneva - for her amazing creatures
griefgreen.art - for his stylized noir work
tri.shiba - for his amazing line work
maelyschay - for her cozy work
