“I haven’t baked a cake” is such a good measure of time in the week - I love slow ritual activities like baking but you end up needing the whole day!

Yes!!! I literally baked a cake today and it took HOURS. So worth it though!

Late reader SOZ !! Fully relate to not having the time to do anything at the minute. I've spent virtually no time doing anything that brings me joy in the week, except the odd coffee shop trip which is a highlight. And I'm exhausted - in bed, asleep, by 9. It's definitely because I'm not energising myself by doing the lovely things <3

But also YES to Saturday night telly! We watched the Gladiators celeb special over New Year and we've been avid fans ever since (Aidan is a particular fan of Diamond x)

I read Holly's post on Love Island based on your share and absolutely LOVED it.

Thanks for bringing some sunshine to my week xxx

Excuse me what time do you call this?? Lol sometimes you just have to take the coffee and it has to be enough, feel like a side effect of a fully formed frontal lobe is you lose an hour in the day??

hahahaha I'm not gonna lie I was LOSING IT at all their little poses in the opening credits 😂 my friends kids had Giant come to visit their school and they went crazy for it!! But I also am sooo here for seeing children scream for physically strong women on telly, I said to my mum I feel like the only time I really saw anything like that was the female celebs on Strictly when I was younger, and even then it was about being pretty and elegant, whereas this is fierce and strong and it's sooo nice to see!

Thank you for reading Soph <3 <3

Gorgeous and inspiring as always! I would love to read something about your Edinburgh trip once it has happened and you have enough time to soak it in. One of my favorite novels is set there, and I went for a DAY basically 9-5 on a cruise two years ago, so not enough time. I am aching to go back and slow down, enjoy my time there. I would love to vicariously live through your trip if you choose to write about it :)

Oh Jane what a lovely comment! Thank you so much! Ah yes, I am definitely planning on documenting my trip to Edinburgh - I can't wait! Which book did you read? I'm already trying to plan which novel to take with me for the train ☺️

Yes! January was mega busy and left little time for much else - what was with that?! February is already slipping past at such a fast rate... Grateful to your Sunny Side Ups for a happy break! 💕

I totally hear you on not wanting to deal with the news in the morning. I tend to catch up after lunch! So glad you've figured out what you sort of want your year to feel like. January is the trial month! I spent mine quietly cosy, reading everything I could, and packing my life up. Glad to have kept it slow since things are about to get a bit wild ❤️

January must have been such a funny reflective month for you with the move, I think embracing cosiness and quiet was absolutely the best way to go when you know things are about to ramp up!

And no, deffo skip the news for as long as I can. Currently loving Scott Mills on radio 2, the nostalgia from my school days is putting me in the best mood in the mornings at the minute! xx

Thank you for the mention!! And you are so not alone in feeling this way. The best way I can describe January for me was a fog - my brain was just in a literal fog for two weeks. The sun has come out here and it’s crazy how much that impacts my mental state! I hope February gives you more time for the things you love 🩵

Ah Izzy so good to know I'm not the only one! A fog is exactly what it was. The sun is like a magical remedy for me too, I'm itching for the brighter days!

Thank you so much for the mention Ella! Ooo that actually makes me curious to read me before you. I've watched the film (of course) but I've never considered reading the book. Is it much different to the film or quite samey? 💓

I'd say it's pretty similar (I believe the screenplay was written by Jojo Moyes as well), but the book has a couple of subplots which add quite a bit of depth. It's still making me cry!! Worth a read if you liked the film xx

Oh you’ll love Edinburgh! The Milkman is the best coffee shop, but there is usually always long queues so I’d also recommend Santu Coffee, they have the cutest loyal card it’s a time stamp machine that’s decades old!

Victor Hugo Deli is the yummiest place for brunch, honestly so so good

I’d really recommend doing the Edinburgh dungeons, it’s just some silly fun and you learn a lot of history with a ride at the end

And there is Scotland’s only old fashion Photo Booth in Edinburgh. It’s called Stills Gallery on Cockburn Street. It’s really fun for getting some vintage style Photo Booth photos

Hope you love Edinburgh though! And thank you for reading my article, so glad you enjoyed it 🥰
